Bengalis, the brave Punjabis, Haryanvis and others, by the ongoing farmers agitation, have smashed the feudal barriers of caste and religion, which were the main obstacles to our country’s progress, and have started India’s Long March by a united people’s struggle ( which process will no doubt be arduous, and will probably last 10-15 years ) towards setting up a political and social order in which our people get a high standard of living and prosperous lives.
But now the ball is in your court, and the eyes of the whole nation are on you.
In the upcoming West Bengal state assembly elections you have to decide whether you will vote for those who polarise the country on religious lines and spread and incite religious hatred or not.
You are the descendants of my heroes, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Surya Sen ( Masterda ), Dr BC Roy, and the great scientists, philosophers, writers and artists Bengal has produced, who have done India proud.
Bengal has been for long a bastion of secularism in India, but of late I have been getting disturbing news of religious polarisation in West Bengal society. Will you continue on this disastrous path, or will you reverse it ?
Now you will be tested.
