I regard a cow as no different from a horse or a dog. It is just an animal. How can an animal be a mother of a human being ? Only those with heads filled with gobar call cow as ‘gomata’ and venerate it.
Some people say cow is a mother as it gives us milk to drink. But humans also drink milk of goats, buffaloes, camels, yaks, deer, etc. Are they all to be venerated as our mothers ?
Others say we should venerate cows as that is part of our culture. But there is also a lot of rubbish in our culture too e.g. caste system and looking down on dalits, which must be rejected if we wish to progress.
90% of the world eats beef. Are they all wicked people, and Hindus alone sadhu sants ?
