The farmers laws will not be withdrawn
An MP from an opposition party phoned me just now and said that BJP may withdraw the farmers laws, as it may adversely affect their prospects in state assembly elections.
I said they will not. The govt of India is now no longer being run by Modi or the BJP but by the international and national big corporates.
To understand the situation in India one must understand economics and know some facts.
Capital seek avenues for profitable investment. In view of the world economic recession, most of these avenues have closed down, or become greatly restricted.
But the huge agriculture and trade sectors of the Indian economy were till now largely unexplored by the corporates, and now they have decided to enter it in a big way, as they think these sectors will yield huge profits.
For instance, Amazon has entered India in a big way, and online shopping is gradually displacing much of physical shopping. This is adversely affecting shopkeepers and their employees, many of whom may be laid off. Thus, millions may lose their livelihood.
The 3 farm laws were made ostensibly to free farmers, but there is no real freedom between unequals. With their huge resources the corporates intend to place all farmers under their thumbs and at their mercy, buying at cheap prices ( that is why there will never be a statutory MSP ).
