Death penalty cases: Supreme Court to prepare guidelines
Taking suo motu cognizance, the Supreme Court has said that soon a guideline will be made regarding the death penalty, which will be valid for the courts of the whole country. It has been told in media reports that a division bench of Justice U U Lalit, Justice S Ravindra Bhatt and Justice PS Narasimha has also sought the help of Attorney General KK Venugopal in preparing the guideline. The bench has also sent a notice to the National Legal Services Authority.
