Jagdeep Dhankhar takes oath as the 14th Vice President of India and Chairman of Rajya Sabha
Jagdeep Dhankhar today assumed charge as the fourteenth Vice President of India and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. The former Governor of West Bengal, Mr Dhankhar was administered the oath of office by the President, Mrs Draupadi Murmu at a swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.
Income Tax Department launched a search operation in Rajasthan
The Income Tax Department conducted a search operation on the premises of a group in Jaipur on 3 August 2022. The group is involved in the gems and jewellery, hospitality and real estate business. The search operation was carried out in more than three dozen premises located in Jaipur and Kota.
According to a press release from the Finance Ministry, a large number of incriminating documents and digital evidence were found and seized during the searches.
An analysis of the seized evidence of the real estate business reveals that the group has committed large-scale tax evasion by accepting cash on the sale of residential houses and land which is not recorded in the regular ledger. Apart from this, evidence related to the sale of gems and jewellery was also found during the search.
