Manipur: Article 355 invoked, Army flag march continues, additional troops airlifted from Assam
In view of the widespread unrest in Manipur, the central government on Friday invoked Article 355 in the state to control the situation. Article 355 is a part of the emergency provisions contained in the Constitution which empowers the Center to take all necessary steps for the defense of the State against internal disturbances and external aggression.
Questions are being raised on social media regarding this and the central government should clarify its position.
Manipur DGP P Doungel: “Article 355 is there so that Centre takes more attention on the affairs of the State and that is why the adviser has been sent.”
