The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued new guidelines to reopen universities & colleges after a nearly seven-month lockdown in institutions for higher education across the country.
However, no institution should have the attendance of more than 50 per cent of students.
Online classes will continue for all programmes except science, technology and research.
According to the new guidelines, students can prefer to stay at home and continue with online classes. A limited number of hostels can be opened.
Kejriwal imposes ban on firecrackers in Delhi till Nov 30
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday held a review meeting on the coronavirus situation and the preparedness of Delhi to deal with the COVID-19 cases and also decided to ban firecrackers, as both pollution and Covid-19 are adversely impacting city residents.
“The govt has also decided to increase targeted testing at crowded places across Delhi, such as markets, mobile testing vans will be deployed in markets and crowded places across Delhi. The testing can be availed free of cost by the people at these places,” he said.

The Central Government on Thursday issued a set of fresh guidelines for those travelling to India from abroad, under which travellers seeking exemption from institutional quarantine will have to submit a negative RT-PCR report conducted within 72 hours of undertaking the journey.
