Her Excellency the President Smt. Draupadi Murmu attended the 10th Convocation of Guru Ghasidas University at Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh today (September 1, 2023) and also addressed the program on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the President said that in the modern world, individuals, institutions and countries must be at the forefront of innovation and adoption of science and technology to achieve greater progress. He said that proper facilities, environment and encouragement are needed for the development of science and technology. He expressed happiness over the establishment of an Accelerator-Based Research Center in Guru Ghasidas University. He expressed confidence that this centre would make a mark for itself through useful research.

Opposition bloc India (Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance) today announced a 13-member coordination committee after a meeting of leaders in Mumbai. However, the opposition has not yet named any convenor.

India parties concluded their two-day meeting in Mumbai today and passed three resolutions to contest against the Narendra Modi government in the 2024 assembly elections. After the meeting of the opposition alliance (INDIA), Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said that three resolutions have been passed and four main committees have been formed.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has said the government is "terrified" by the strength of the opposition alliance and the India Bloc's partners should be prepared for vendetta politics as there will be more "misuse" of agencies against them.

Opposition leaders in India have criticized the government's decision to form a committee to study "one nation, one election", claiming it threatens the country's federal structure. The opposition alleges that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is scared of the Bharat alliance and has formed the committee to divert attention.

Vietnam has joined India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and the Philippines against China's map. In view of the increasing Covid cases in America, people in some schools, hospitals and businesses have been asked to wear masks again.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Sri Lanka on September 02 and 03, 2023. During this, Rajnath Singh will hold talks with Sri Lankan President and Defense Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunwaddane. During these meetings, all aspects of India's defense relations with Sri Lanka will be reviewed. The objective of celebrating International Literacy Day is to create awareness about the ULAS-Nav Bharat literacy program among all stakeholders/beneficiaries/citizens. According to the Education Ministry, the week-long literacy campaign will enable large-scale participation to inculcate a sense of duty and public participation in every citizen of the nation.

Smt. Jaya Verma Sinha took charge as the new Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board (Ministry of Railways) at Rail Bhawan today. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Mrs. Jaya Verma Sinha. Jaya Verma Sinha is the first woman to be appointed to this top post of Indian Railways as the Chairperson and CEO of the Railway Board.
