Pakistan Independence Day: A sharp reflection on freedom, governance, and the promises made to the people.
By Justice Markansey Katju
Pakistanis, celebrate.
Today, 14th August, is your Independence Day.
No doubt you have not got real independence, which is freedom from massive poverty, massive unemployment, appalling level of child malnutrition, skyrocketing prices of essential commodities like food, medicines, electricity rates, etc and almost total lack of proper healthcare and good education for the masses.
But how do all things matter?
You have got something far more important. You have got freedom from that despicable thing called democracy, and trouble makers who are safely locked up in jail. You have a brave Field Marshal who ordered the massacre of hundreds of the hooligan protestors in Islamabad on 26th November 2024 in D-Chowk. And now you will get huge amounts of oil thanks to Donald Trump, which will make you an oil-exporting nation ( exporting even to your archenemy India ).
So celebrate. Hold huge parades and rallies in your cities and villages, lighting fireworks, and distributing sweets, and congratulating each other for all your great achievements since 1947, which have transformed your country into a Jannat, a land with rivers of milk and honey which will soon start flowing in it (of course, with IMF and Saudi financial support)
