Has the US won the war against Iran? Based on Trump's claims, the reactions of NATO nations, ongoing attacks, and military analysis, discover the true state of the conflict and its impact on global politics in this article.
Has America won the war ?
His pointman and mouthpiece, Senator Lindsey Graham, has gone one step further, and said '' We are going to blow the hell out of these people ''
Brave words indeed !
But a little fact check reveals a somewhat different picture.
(1) If America has indeed won the war, why do hundreds of Iranian missiles and drones keep hitting Israel and US bases and assets in Middle Eastern countries every day? Why has the US Government advised its citizens who are in the Middle East to leave the region ?
(2) Why did President Trump appeal to America's NATO allies ( UK, Germany, France, etc ) and some other countries for help in keeping the Strait of Hormuz clear and safe for shipping ? Making this appeal seems to indicate that Trump has conceded that America alone cannot win the war.
The abovementioned countries have rejected this appeal, saying it is America's war, since they were not consulted before starting the war
(3) If Trump was correct when he said America had won the war, why have his own generals and admirals advised him to stop it ? Probably they believe that it has now become a war of attrition, a quagmire and a stalemate, like the Vietnam war, and more and more body bags will soon start coming home, as in the Vietnam war ( apart from oil prices going up the roof if the war is prolonged ).
A top US Government official has resigned as he said the war was unwarranted, since Iran posed no threat to America
(4) Why did Trump repeatedly say that Iran wants to negotiate, when the Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi has repeatedly denied this?
(5) A war comes to an end when one side is victorious, and the other side surrenders. But if the other side continues to fight with determination and refuses to surrender, how can it be said that the war has ended? After all, it takes two to tango.
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khameini (son of the former supreme leader Ayatollah Khameini who was slain in a U.S. air attack), in a chilling reply to Trump’s claim said '' We will decide when the war ends ''.
Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards ( IRGC ) has expressed a similar view.
The eminent Prof Marandi of Tehran University has also said that Iran will not accept a ceasefire, and the war will continue, until Iran’s demand for a guarantee for its safety that it will not be attacked again is met ( it was attacked earlier in a 12 day war in June last year ), and compensation is paid by USA and Israel for the damage in life and property they have caused to Iran.
So Trump's claim that America has won the war sounds a lot of bunkum, poppycock, hocus pocus, balderdash, baloney, and empty twaddle.
