Stan Swamy

By Justice Markandey Katju

Many people have condoned the death of Stanislaus Lourduswamy, popularly known as Stan Swamy, a Jesuit priest who had been in jail since his arrest in October 2020, after having been charged under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act in connection with the Bhima Koregaon incident of 2018.

At the outset, I would like to say that I regard the Bhima Koregaon case as a concocted case with fake evidence fabricated by the police. I also do not believe that Stan Swamy was linked with Maoists.

However, I would like to know what exactly was Stan Swamy doing for tribals, and who funded him?

It is claimed he was doing a lot of humanitarian work for the tribals. But what exactly was that? Where was the money for his work coming from ?  And was he doing religious conversions?

I am an atheist, and regard all religions as superstitions. So religious conversion means going from one superstition to another, from the frying pan into the fire. Truth lies in science ( which of course is never final but always developing ). So if one wants to convert one should ‘convert’ to science.

That is why I am always suspicious of priests allegedly doing social work for the poor but also seeking religious conversion, To my mind, they are objectively agents of some vested interests, possibly some foreign powers, who wish to divide the Indian people, at a time when unity among our people is absolutely essential. Religious conversions by such priests will obviously create strife and disunity among the people, and it serves the divide and rule policy of our enemies.

. Some time back I had written an article about that fraud Mother Teresa which is given below :

I wonder whether similar criticism applies to the holy Father Stan too?
