U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today. Secretary Blinken conveyed the greetings of President Biden and Vice President Harris to the Prime Minister. He briefed Prime Minister on his fruitful exchanges with EAM and NSA earlier in the day and expressed a strong commitment to further deepen India US strategic relations in various sectors including defence, maritime security, trade & investment, climate change and science & technology.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi held an interaction with representatives of religious and social organizations to discuss the Covid-19 situation earlier today via video conferencing.

Prime Minister said that the interaction is yet another example of society and government working together for the benefit of the country. He appreciated the work done by these organizations towards meeting the challenges posed by Covid-19. He said that the help provided to people was beyond caste or religious considerations and was a shining example of ‘Ek Bharat-Eknishtha Prayas’. Across the country, Temples, Mosques, Churches and Gurudwaras doubled up as hospitals and isolation centres, while also helping the needy get food and medicines, he said.

With an aim to further improve ease of doing business, Centre today launched the “Secured Logistics Document Exchange” along with a Calculator for Green House Gas Emissions

The Digital initiative is now set to improve logistics efficiency, reduce logistics cost, and promote multi-modality and sustainability in a big way.

These digital initiatives have been launched to fill the gap areas where no action has yet been taken either by private players or any of the line ministries. The Launch Event was attended by more than 75 participants from the Central Ministries, Banks, IT companies, international organizations, logistics sector stakeholders and industry bodies.

The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill, 2021, which seeks to amend the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, was passed in the Rajya Sabha, today. The bill was introduced in the Parliament by the Government in the Budget session this year. It was passed in Lok Sabha on 24.03.2021.

While introducing the bill, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister for Women and Child Development stressed the necessity for entrusting District Magistrates with the responsibility of care and protection of vulnerable children in light of the prevailing inadequacies in the system. She recounted the commitment of the Parliament towards prioritising India’s children above all issues.
