Talking about her best-seller, author Manikarnika Lagu said, “I love physics, and after my PhD, I pursued further research in condensed matter and non-linear physics. I am an explorer by nature, I like to discover and have a better understanding of things, and now as the world is moving towards an AI ecosystem, I wanted to explore this uncharted territory of effects of neural chips, brain-chip conflict, how human is nothing but guinea-pigs for further research. The human and machine hybrid”

“Despite being a highly educated individual, it is strange, the more I learn, the less I know. It is my passion to gather knowledge about the human brain, its potential, complexity and consciousness, through my book, I have tried to explore that, my books allow us to wander into a world other than ours, into many journeys created by the power of words” the author added.

The Silicon mind’s story

The Silicon Mind is a well-structured sci-fi thriller, revolving around Aman, who is planted with a neural chip by neurosurgeon Ray.  Now, Aman becomes Ray’s unsuspecting guinea pig, with a silicon chip inside his brain, which changes him forever. His brain has been enhanced to superlative degrees but his body suffers strange illnesses. Aman manages to trace his bizarre bodily symptoms with the help of Manasi, his psychiatrist, and her journalist friend, Ishan.

Ray finally buckles to emotional pressure from Manasi and his own daughter, the irrepressible Sakshi and has to undo the wrong he had done by trying to play God.

Manikarnika has led an impressive life, decades of academics, a happy marriage, an avid traveller, and she is passionately involved in various charities.

When asked about her life’s mantra, Manikarnika said, “I like to keep things simple, get out of your comfort zone if you want success. Follow your passion and things will fall into place”

The concept of a neural implant and its consequences are believably portrayed in the book, a must-read.
