The 18th summit of G20 countries began in New Delhi today. In its first session, the African Union was made a permanent member of the group. At the inaugural session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited the Chairperson of the African Union Ajali Asomani to take the seat as a permanent member. India had proposed to make the African Union a permanent member of the G20 in the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.

The Delhi Declaration, issued on Saturday, the first day of the G20 summit, called for a "comprehensive, just and durable peace in Ukraine" and called on member states to "refrain from the threat of use of force for territorial annexation" or violation of the territorial integrity of any state. Russia has said that it stands firm on its original demands for re-adoption of the Black Sea Grain Agreement. Russia says that its demands do not require any explanation and its stand is clear and firm. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia wants its Agricultural Bank to be reintegrated into the international SWIFT bank payments system, not a subsidiary bank proposed by the United Nations.
