Political parties will now be able to file their financial accounts online with the Election Commission (ECI). A new web portal (https://iems.eci.gov.in/ ) has been launched to facilitate the online filing of contribution reports, audited annual statements and details of expenditures incurred during elections by political parties. This measure has been made possible with Shubharam. In compliance with the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and the transparency guidelines issued by the Election Commission from time to time over the years, the political parties have to submit these financial accounts to the Election Commission/Chief Electoral Officers of the States/UTs.
