Long Live America: Why the American People Are Rising Against the Iran War

Long live America

By Justice Markandey Katju

Many people are cursing Americans for the unprovoked and unjustified attack on Iran by US-Israeli forces from 28th February 2026, and the barbaric killing of Ayatollah Khameini, many senior officials, 165 primary schoolgirls, etc and bombing of hospitals, radio stations etc.

However, I still say that 95% Americans are good people, as I said in these articles :

As I said therein, like all people in the world, Americans too have made some big mistakes e.g. supporting slavery at one time, segregation and discrimination against blacks, the Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan wars, etc and now the brutal, unjustified, and unprovoked war on Iran.

But I have also said that later Americans realised their mistake and largely corrected them.

They are now doing the same with regard to the ongoing Iran war, and that is by the 'No Kings' protests going on in almost all American cities, ( like those at the time of the Vietnam war ) to protest against the totally unwarranted, unjustified, and ill conceived war on Iran, and the autocratic, high handed and domineering policies of President Donald Trump, who has been behaving somewhat like the maniacal Roman Emperors Nero, Caligula and Commodus, the Stuart and Bourbon Kings, the mad King George III of England, or the sanki ( whimsical ) Mohammad bin Tughlaq in India

Many people have spoken against the war with Iran

Opinion polls show that most Americans oppose the war, and this opposition is bound to increase as prices of oil soar upwards, the cost of living in America goes up, and body bags of dead US soldiers start coming back to America to be received by wailing relatives seething with anger at this misconceived and asinine war.

Unless Trump changes his present unhinged and delusional policies, the time may soon come for Americans to invoke the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution, to give him a well-deserved rest.
