New Delhi, 30 November. Former judge of the Supreme court of India Justice Markandey Katju suspects that middlemen ( bichaulias )  and big farmers are financing and supporting the farmers’ agitation.

Justice Katju wrote a post on his verified Facebook page, with a link of old news.

The full text of the post is as follows –

“I suspect middlemen and big farmers, mainly of Punjab, are financing and supporting the farmers agitation.

In Punjab middlemen are believed to earn about Rs 3000 crore annually, while genuine farmers get a pittance. The new laws will deprive these middlemen of their booty, for which they are aggrieved.

As regards big farmers, they have their ‘settings’ in mandis, which they fear will be disrupted.

Farmers of Bihar, MP, eastern and central UP, etc are mostly small and medium farmers, so they see no reason to join this agitation.
