Supreme Court has held eight political parties guilty of contempt of court for failing to declare and publicise the criminal antecedents of their candidates during the 2020 Bihar Assembly Elections. These eight political Parties are Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal, Lok Janshakti Party, Indian National Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Nationalist Congress Party, and the Communist Party of India. These parties have violated the Supreme Court’s directions to publicise the criminal antecedents. (Media reports)
