New crop residue management guidelines to enable efficient management of paddy straw
The Union government has revised crop residue management guidelines to enable an efficient management of paddy straw generated in the states of Punjab, Haryana, UP and Delhi, irrespective of the local situation. As per the revised guidelines, for the paddy-straw supply chain, bilateral agreement between the beneficiary/collector (farmers, rural entrepreneurs, farmers’ cooperatives, farmer producer organizations (FPOs) and panchayats) and industries using paddy-straw Techno-commercial pilot projects will be set up under this.

PM Modi launches National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Mission from MP
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Mission in Madhya Pradesh and distributed sickle cell genetic status cards. He also launched the distribution of 3.57 crore Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana cards in the state. The mission aims to eliminate sickle cell anemia and save the lives of 2.5 lakh affected children and families. Modi highlighted that India has the highest number of sickle cell cases in the world.
