President Smt. Draupadi Murmu launched the campaign ‘My Bengal, Addiction Free Bengal’ under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ organized by Brahma Kumaris at Raj Bhavan, Kolkata today (August 17, 2023). Speaking on the occasion, the President said that drug abuse is a matter of concern for society and the country. Due to these addictions, the youth are not able to choose the right direction in their life. This is very worrying and there is a need to work on all fronts in this matter. He said that this situation can be improved through spiritual awakening, healing, social solidarity and political will. The President lauded organizations like the Brahma Kumaris for discussing such issues and working towards their resolution.
President Draupadi Murmu today commissioned the latest warship ‘INS Vindhyagiri’ at the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited Shipbuilding Center on the banks of the Hooghly River at Khidarpur in Kolkata. The advanced stealth frigate INS Vindhyagiri is the sixth warship of the Project 17A frigates. The state-of-the-art warship will be fitted with the latest equipment and will undergo extensive trials before being handed over to the Indian Navy.

Around 500 trucks are stranded on the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway-37 due to landslides triggered by heavy rains blocking some parts of the vital road link.
